Description

Explore the vital contributions of the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) during World War II with this detailed figure. To free male pilots for combat, the U.S. Army Air Force employed qualified female civilians for non-combat missions. These women, aged 21 to 35, in good physical condition, at least five feet two inches tall, holding a pilot’s license, and with at least 35 hours of flight time, ferried aircraft from factories to military bases.

The primary duty of the WASP was to ferry aircraft, delivering over 12,000 planes. They also towed targets for live anti-aircraft gun practice, conducted simulated strafing missions, and transported cargo. Though they did not engage in combat, their service was fraught with danger, and 38 WASPs lost their lives in the line of duty.
