The United States Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron, widely known as the Thunderbirds, serves as the premier multi-role jet demonstration team representing the pride, precision, and professionalism of American airpower. Based at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada, the squadron currently operates the General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcon, performing a rigorous choreographed routine that combines high-speed solo maneuvers with tight, six-aircraft diamond formations where wings are often separated by as little as 18 inches.

Since their activation in 1953, the Thunderbirds have performed for over 300 million people worldwide, utilizing their distinctive red, white, and blue painted jets to showcase the capabilities of the Air Force and assist in global recruiting and retention efforts. The team’s performances are not merely displays of pilot skill but are also a testament to the specialized maintenance and support crews that keep the supersonic aircraft mission-ready for more than 70 shows per year.
