Description
The B-17 Flying Fortress, without a doubt, stood as the most iconic bomber of World War II. Deliveries to the Army Air Corps commenced even before America's entry into the war. By 1941, the United States was primarily focused on bolstering its military presence in the Far East, leading B-17s to undertake flights to Clark Field in the Philippine Islands, making refueling stops at Hickam Field along the way.
In 1989, Doug Kinsley founded Aviation Illustrations. Despite lacking any formal art training, his passion for airplanes, which he had been drawing since childhood, allowed him to create artwork with such remarkable detail that it often necessitated a second glance. Each of his drawings is meticulously researched to ensure historical accuracy, and the unparalleled level of detail in his work can sometimes require up to 500 hours to complete.
