Description
The U.S. Air Force Aerospace Defense Command (ADC) was a major command responsible for defending North America against air and space threats during the Cold War. Established in 1946 and disbanded in 1980, ADC managed radar networks, missile defense systems, and interceptor aircraft designed to detect and counter enemy bombers and missiles. The command played a crucial role in maintaining air sovereignty and ensuring the security of the U.S. and its allies during a period of heightened tension with the Soviet Union.
