The United States Space Force (USSF), established on December 20, 2019, is the youngest and most specialized branch of the U.S. Armed Forces, operating under the Department of the Air Force. Headquartered at the Pentagon and primarily based at Peterson Space Force Base, its mission is to secure American interests in, from, and to space while providing essential satellite-based capabilities—such as GPS, secure communications, and missile warning—to the rest of the military.

Members of the branch, known as Guardians, manage a vast network of orbital assets and ground-based radar systems to ensure "space superiority" in an increasingly contested environment. Despite its relatively small size compared to other branches, the Space Force plays a critical role in modern global security by defending against orbital threats and fostering the commercial and scientific expansion of the final frontier.
