The A-10 Thunderbolt II, often called the "Warthog," is a rugged, twin-engine aircraft designed for close air support. Its iconic 30mm GAU-8 Avenger cannon and heavy armor make it highly effective in providing support to ground troops, destroying tanks, and engaging in precision strikes. Built to endure severe damage, the A-10 can fly with one engine, half a wing, and damaged landing gear. It has been a reliable asset in various conflicts since its introduction in the 1970s, known for its resilience and unmatched battlefield presence.
In bas-relief castings, the process is similar to that used with common U.S. coins. The image is first meticulously hand carved in clay and then undergoes a complicated series of molds until the final image is cast in metal with portions slightly raised to provide an illusion of depth and perspective. The face of the casting is aluminum with a resin backing for stability. These incredible pieces of art measure approximately 7.75 to 8 inches square and are limited to 200 pieces. They are hand numbered and signed by the artist. The piece will also include a certificate of authenticity with the matching number, also signed by the artist. The pieces are selected randomly, so the number of the piece will vary.
