The Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II, commonly known as the "Warthog," is a specialized close air support (CAS) aircraft developed for the United States Air Force. Designed during the Cold War, its primary mission is to provide effective support to ground forces by attacking enemy tanks, armored vehicles, and other ground targets. The A-10's iconic design includes a tough titanium "tank buster" fuselage, twin engines, and a distinctive forward-mounted Gatling gun, the GAU-8/A Avenger.
