Description

U.S.A.A.F. Heavy Bomber Gunner, 1942-45

Step into the perilous world of World War II's bomber crews with this figure representing a U.S.A.A.F. Heavy Bomber Gunner. Among the most dangerous roles in aerial warfare, the position of a waist gunner was particularly harrowing. Positioned back-to-back, waist gunners manned crucial battle stations in bombers, making their duty both awkward and challenging. With bombers presenting large, inviting targets, waist gunners faced a staggering 19 percent mortality rate. Overall, U.S. bomber crews endured a 20 percent mortality rate, which was 50 times higher than that of U.S. infantry in the European Theater of Operations (ETO). The injury and capture rates were also significantly higher for bomber crews than for any other military service members. Not designed or intended for play, recommended for age 14 and up.

This figure pays homage to these brave men and their incredible sacrifice.

1/30 Scale, Approximately 2.5 inches tall
