SKU: 001758

Description

This is an Italeri 1 1/72 scale plastic model kit. Italeri's 1/72 kit is licenced by Boeing and is a big model, with a fuselage length of 30.9" and wingspan of 17.5". Accuracy abounds with cockpit, seats and landing gear details as well as detailed exhaust nozzles. The kit is molded in grey plastic and comes with precise painting instructions and a complete decal set to finish the model.

The supersonic XB-70 Valkyrie was the prototype version of the proposed B-70 nuclear-armed for the United States Air Force's Strategic Air Command. Designed in the late 1950s, the Valkyrie was a large six-engined aircraft able to fly Mach 3+ at an altitude of 70,000' allowing it to avoid interceptors, which was the only effective anti-bomber weapon at the time. Two XB-70 prototypes were built for the U.S. Air Force in 1964, one crashed in testing and the other is on display at the National Museum of the Air Force in Ohio. It is considered by many to be the most beautiful aircraft ever constructed.
