Description
The Curtiss P-40 first flew in 1938, being a modification of the Curtiss P-36 Hawk. It was the third most produced American Fighter after the P-47 and the P-51. The Warhawk flew with most Allied Air Forces in every theater of operations from the Aleutian Islands to North AFrica and the South Pacific. Claire Chennault's famed Flying Tigers, the 1st American Volunteer Group (AVG), was a unit of the Chinese Air Force.
Doug Kinsley created Aviation Illustrations in 1989. Having drawn airplanes since he was a young boy with no formal art training, his love of airplanes has enabled him to draw in such detail that one would have to take a second look. Each drawing is thoroughly researched to insure historical accuracy with unmated detail often taking up to 500 hours to complete.
